The colorful wings of “Aspiration 2018” a two days national level cultural carnival were unfurled in the inaugural function on 10thFebruary 2018 by eminent Singer, Composer & Director -Dr.ShamithaMalnadbeing the Chief Guest, Mr.Mrunthunjaya – General Manager, Microlabs as Guest of Honor and Dr.V.Krishnamurthy- Registrar,PES University presiding over the function. TheDirector of PES college of Pharmacy Prof.Dr.S.Mohan and the Principal Prof.Dr.J.Saravanan were present with them at MRD Auditorium, PES University, Hosakerehalli,Bangalore 560085.
This cultural carnival Aspiration has been organized by PES College of Pharmacy from past 16 years successively on a grander scale. The annual college magazine “VISION” 14th Edition was released by the Registrar Dr.V.Krishnamurthy during the function.
There were more than twenty five Pharmacy colleges that took part in this fest. The whole atmosphere had the fare look with lot of fun and frolic. After lighting the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries on the dais, Dr.ShamithaMalnad in her address to the gathering was asking the natives of Karnataka to teach and spread the beauty and fragrance of Kannada language to their friends who come from other states and countries. She electrified the entire crowd with her voice singing “MathuraPisumaathige” song and enthralled the gathering.
Mr.Mrunthunjaya in his talk congratulated all the participating colleges and emphasized the role of Pharmacist in the society. He explained the importance of GMP and Validation in the Pharmaceutical Industries.
Dr.V.Krishnamurthy in his presidential address spoke about the significance of cultural event in the life of students. Cultural events makes the mundane mind sharper and surpasses the fatigue felt by the unseen entity yet vital in the body called the “MIND”. These cultural events are like an elixir to the fatigued mind and body which rejuvenates the entire system and makes the best come out of a student.
The representatives of British Biologicals- the Protein People gifted scholarship amount to students from economically weaker section.
The two days cultural fest offered many events for competition. The events that were on stage were that of solo dance, pick and speak, quiz, Group dance both traditional and western, solo song, group song, brain storming and recent advancement in medicine. The off stage events were no less in competition and the events were that of Debate on the topic “ Technological advancementshave rendered the masses dumb and docile” , Street play, Photography, Hoggathon and Dubsmash. Eminent judges from their area of expertise were invited to judge the events.
On the second day, in the valedictory function Prof.Dr.J.Saravanan, Principal of PES College of Pharmacy in his welcome address welcomed the dignitaries on the dais Dr.M.R.Doreswamy- Ex MLC, Chancellor, PES University, Bengaluru presided over the function with Sri Arnav Suri – Circle Head & Group Associate vice President DCB Bank Limited, Bengaluru as the Chief Guest.
The Best out going student of IV B.Pharm Ms Swetha.B.R was felicitated with Fathima Beevi Award comprising of a pure Gold medal sponsored by SAMI Labs, Bengaluru.
The University Rank holders and Toppers of RGUHS were felicitated with Gold medals by the dignitaries on the stage.
The overall championship trophy was bagged by JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. The first and second runner up trophies were bagged by Dayananda Sagar College of Pharmacy and East West College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru respectively.
The Chief Guest in his address to the gathering and outgoing students earnestly requested them to never and ever compromise on the ethical values. He asked them to set a high moral professional Standards and to uphold them in their entire life which will surely lead to success.
Dr.M.R.Doreswamy in his presidential address congratulated all the participants of Aspiration 2018. Sir was the main mediator in incorporating Pharmacy course under CET of Karnataka State because of which innumerable students are reaping the benefits. Dr M.R.Doreswamy was and is always concerned about placement for the students. He promised that he would take up the issue seriously to both the state and Central Government regarding proper placing and utilization of knowledge and services of Pharma.D Students in Health Care sector. Sir also impressed upon students that mere studies would not help in over all development and asked them to take active part in extracurricular activities to come out with new ideas, concepts so as to improve self confidence and equip themselves with apt soft skills. Sir wants PES to rise to the standards of IISc, IIM and IIT in the state by 2025. Finally he asked the students to work hard, achieve their goals and become an asset not only to the family but also to our country.
